The 5th Congress of Slovenian Entrepreneurs took place in Portorož on 3rd and 4th June 2016. Over 200 successful Slovenian entrepreneurs participated, among them members of the Slovenian Business Club. This two-day gathering, which has always been based on the exchange of entrepreneurial experience, was enlivened by numerous interesting events. Outstanding lectures, round tables and opportunities for networking were accompanied by expert themes and the awards ceremony for the Slovenian Entrepreneur of 2016.
The slogan of this year’s event was »The Land of Entrepreneurs and Happy People«, while the underlying theme of the meeting was internationalisation, digital marketing, and brands. The entrepreneurs who participated in the Congress were first addressed by Miran Lampret, head of the Congress’ organisation committee, and Marjan Batagelj, president of the Slovenian Business Club. The first to share their success stories with the participants were Franci Pliberšek from MIK Celje, Andrej Mertelj from Datalab, Jana Fleišer from Dobra teta, and Andraž Tori from Zemanta.
Next was the round table entitled »How did we build our brand?«, organised by the Club, which opened with a contribution from Igor Akrapovič. Alenka Potočnik Anžič from AV Studio, Marko Lotrič from Lotrič Meroslovje, and Jure Jezeršek from Jezeršek gostinstvo also contributed their experience and knowledge. Tanja Skaza, the successful head of the company Skaza from Velenje, also offered a few thoughts about the challenges of building and developing a brand.
Examples of best practice were presented by over 30 entrepreneurs attending the Congress, with Petra Škarja preparing minutes for entrepreneurial deliberation. Mark Pleško of Cosylab explained how to motivate employees even without the employer contribution cap. The programme continued with Edita Cetinski Malnar, Prava ideja at RTV Slovenija, who conducted an interview with the three nominees for the »Slovenian Entrepreneur of 2016«. They were Tanja Skaza of Skaza, Štefan Pavlinjek from Roto, and Pišek Vitli Krpan’s Franc Pišek. The jury, which was assembled from some of the previous winners of this title and presided over by Dr Jure Knez, awarded the prestigious title to the »hidden pearl of Slovenian entrepreneurship«, Franc Pišek.
On the second day of the Congress, Dr Jure Knez from the company Dewesoft, and Jernej Pangeršič presented a best practice case of cooperation between an established company and a start-up and the operation of the Zasavski inkubator Katapult. This was followed by lectures from Dr Amadea Dobovšek from Publi Uma on the competitiveness of the countries to which we sell, and from Tomaž Jug from Editor about the ways of or possibilities for implementing online communication within the business environment. A very notable contribution was the one from Dušan Olaj from the company Duol about ways to open the doors for clients in remote markets. The discussion and conclusions went long into the afternoon and will continue again next year, at the 6th Congress of Slovenian Entrepreneurs.
