Regional Gazela for Gorenjska
The company Dnevnik announced the regional Gazela award for Gorenjska on September 15th and the winner is the second finalist in the Gazela 2016 competition. The regional winner this year is once again the company NiceLabel – Euro Plus, which was recognised last year with the award of the silver Gazela. The competition was held at the Šolski center Kranj, and among the other nominees were the company Damatech from Jesenice and the company Mebor from Železniki.
While NiceLabel – Euro Plus works in the field of computer programming, the other two companies belong to traditional industry. Namely, Damatech develops in the direction of specialisation of products and the development of services for tools manufacturing, machine building, and the recycling industry, while the family company Mebor produces wood-cutting machines and sells them to over 50 countries around the world, from the USA to Australia. The founder and CEO of the company Boris Mesec designed and manufactured the first Mebor band saw in 1982.
All three companies are always looking for not only experienced specialists but also young people, some of whom are already recognised among the students of Šolski center Kranj (Kranj School Centre) who are able to undertake apprenticeships at these companies.
Winners of the Gazela awards are not only bold, innovative, and grow dynamically by expanding to global markets, but are also excellent employers. Namely, in the last five years winners from the Gorenjska region have employed 2,017 people. Attention was brought to this fact by the Mayor of Kranj Boštjan Trilar, who is very satisfied with the fact that in the last year in the Municipality of Kranj 774 new jobs were offered to people so that the unemployment rate, which is the lowest among all Slovenian municipalities, has decreased by 11 percent and the unemployment rate of young people in Kranj is the lowest in Slovenia.
The third of six regional heats will take place next Thursday at the Šolski center Nova Gorica where the winner will be announced for the regions of Primorska and Notranjska.
