Marko Bitenc

He graduated from the Ljubljana Faculty of Medicine in 1985 and completed his internship in 1987. He was a member of the following associations: European Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Slovenian Association for Thoracic Surgery, Slovenian Health Council, member of the Standing Committee of European Physicians (CPME), the first vice president of the CPME, member of the Expert Council of the Slovene Minister of Health. He was a teaching assistant at the Surgery course at the Ljubljana Faculty of Medicine. He completed two mandates as the president of the Medical Chamber of Slovenia; he was also president of the EFMA/WHO (European Forum of Medical Associations). He has a general surgery license since 1993 (Medical Chamber of Slovenia), FETCS since 2001.

In 2007 he opened the most modern operating theatre in Slovenia in the premises of the Golnik Clinic. It was established with the purpose of providing patients in need of demanding surgical procedures with the most modern and state of the art services and equipment in the field of thoracic surgery. They gradually expanded the surgical procedures to abdominal, neural, orthopedic, vascular and cosmetic surgery and currently cooperate with highly trained, experienced and renowned surgeons in their respective fields.

In 2014 they acquired two international accreditations: Healthcare Accreditation Standards of the American Accreditation Council and DNV GL’S INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION PROGRAM FOR HOSPITALS. They treat patients at their establishment in accordance with the highest standards that assure a maximum degree of safety. They are also aware that trust in their experts and their kindness and approachability are very important when it comes to surgical treatment.
